About the role

Are you passionate about leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making? INDEX Consultants is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team for an exciting project with one of our esteemed clients. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing end-to-end data solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the integrity and reliability of data systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Create Comprehensive Data Solutions for both structured and unstructured data, including ingestion, parsing, integration, modelling, and error handling.
  • Collaborate with Business Teams to understand complex business logic and translate it into actionable data assets.
  • Resolve Data Quality Issues and operational challenges.
  • Produce high-quality, secure, and maintainable code within an agile development environment.
  • Develop and maintain test automation frameworks to support reliable and efficient data operations.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience developing and designing on Azure, including experience with Data Lakehouse using Azure Databricks and open-source Delta.
  • Experience and understanding of large-scale cloud data platform deployments in enterprise-wide environments. (Hands-on experience implementing DevOps is desirable).
  • Proficiency in data modelling methods such as Data Vault, Star Schema, and Kimball.
  • Ability to create Python and SQL notebooks to transform and load data using Databricks.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric is desirable.
  • Databricks Developer certification (highly regarded).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must be based in Melbourne.
  • Must have unlimited working rights in Australia.
